Revoltech EVA 01 Type F Review
Yeah, i was pretty busy for the few months back but finally manage to write this review at last, thanks to the semester break. So anyway, i've been very curious of revoltech but never had the chance to get any, but someday i was on a store and saw bunch of revoltech on the shelf so i though why not to get one.
Though this particular figure is one of the few that i bought simply because they looks cool and didn't even know any of its background story whatsoever. I know its EVA but this version is never appear in any version of Evangelion animes, so assuming its appear in manga or something (Apparently i was to lazy to google this one lol).
So back to the figure, as i said this was my first Revoltech figure and boy its very different than most of the stuff i deal before, because most of the joint in revoltech figure uses Revoltech special joint called revolver joint. Combination of universal joint and ratchet joint make them stay put on poses. Sounds great but the execution is not very good as because the ratchet wasn't very strong sometimes the figure can be rather floppy and so on. Though enough with the explanation, lets take a look at the figure.
~OVERVIEW~
Figure Detail :
Manufacturer : Kayodo
Line : Revoltech
Type : Revoltech Yamaguchi
Name : EVA 01 Type F
(Box Illustration)
Its really hard to make this guy stand. The joint like to resist the movement and because what i said earlier that this figure kinda floopy. Although the detail and paintwork is kinda nice but if you close up and the head he paintjob is kinda thick which makes the detail bit lost.
Same goes in the crotch area. And strangely they bot got a glossy finish while the rest of the figure is done in matt finish.
This figure also has couple of marking on it, which is a nice touch.
~ARTICULATION~
Juat like i said before, this figure is mostly consist of revolver joint so technically you can pose him as much as you like assuming its still in range of movement.
Head is on revoltech joint but because hos its connected it can only rotate left and right.
Quite standart movement on the arm. The shoulder armor can be moved up and down.
Wrist is on small revolver joint meaning it can do verything like the other one did.
Okay torso joint. You can also rotate it left and right do to the revolver joint only goes straight down. although side to side movement is kinda hard to do as you need to twist the joint in the opposite direction.
He has a built in hip joint but this joint is used for in and out motion as the figure didn't have that. Legs can also move forward without problem.
Legs are on single joint so it can move in about 90 degree.
Uniquely that knee armor is on double joint, so you can position them whatever you want.
Feet are also on revolver joint, and because how they attach you can have an ankle tilt. which is very helpful at a time.
So the articulation is not that bad but because the use of revolver joint they can somewhat hard to manage (sometimes the joint twisted the wrong way and its quite difficult to put them on the right position). And the connection isn't that secure either.
~ACCESSORIES~
This figure doesn't come with many accessories. First of...
Bunch of hands! 2 holding hands, 2 open hand, 1 gripping looking hand for the left, strange looking straight up hand, and 2 fist that are on the figure so thats 8 in total.
Effect part for the shoulder, 2 knifes, and extra head with open mouth.
And a stand with revolver joint on the tip
How to install the effect part on the shoulder
Alternate head with the mouth open
The knife just slide into holding hands.
~ACTION!~
Conclusion:
Pros:
+ Great articulation
+ Well painted
Cons:
- Revolver joint is hard to fiddle around
- Incosistency in the paint
- Lack of accessory
I buy this figure simply just to know and experiencing revoltech figures and see if they good. After fiddle with it i kinda have mix opinion, the figure is nicely sculpted and pretty well painted if little flawed and overall good looking figure. But at the same time, this figure is quite hard to handle, mostly for the whole revolver joint system. With my ramblng you know that i don't quite like the revolver joint but this figure looks nice nonetheless, so if you can find it cheap i'd say it worth to pick up.
Thanks for Reading :)
